First Aid at Work

Our first aid at work course has been developed to meet industry standards for anyone who requires a first aid at work qualification. 

This course is ran over 3 days and is suitable for HSE and OFSTEAD compliance.

Developed by The Mountain Medics this course is no standard first aid course. It is hands on and tailored to give you the skills to deal with incidents that may occur in the workplace. You wont be stuck watching a powerpoint for the whole course it is an immersive experience with real scenarios to test your skills.

The First Aid at Work course is designed to provide comprehensive training in essential first aid skills and give knowledge to individuals who are designated as first aiders in their workplace. This course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and confidence to respond effectively to a range of workplace emergencies and potentially life-threatening situations. The course will cover topics such as assessing the situation, providing initial care, and managing common workplace injuries and illnesses until professional medical help arrives.

For schools or workplaces with specific requirements (e.g. children with specific conditions and medications) this training can be built into the course.

  • Day 1: Introduction to First Aid and Basic Principles

    • Overview of First Aid at Work Regulations

    • Understanding Basic First Aid Principles

    • Roles and Responsibilities of First Aiders

    • Assessing the Scene and Ensuring Safety

    • Primary Survey: ABCDE Approach (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure)

    • Secondary Survey: History Taking and Physical Examination

    • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Techniques

    • Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)

    • Introduction to Controlled Bleeding and Shock Management

    Day 2: Medical Emergencies and Conditions

    • Recognising and Managing Heart Attacks

    • Understanding Strokes: Signs and Symptoms

    • Managing Breathing Difficulties and Asthma Attacks

    • Allergic Reactions and Anaphylaxis Management

    • Burns, Scalds, and Electrical Injuries: Treatment Protocols

    • Wound Care: Cleaning, Dressing, and Infection Prevention

    • Choking and Foreign Body Obstruction

    • Management of Seizures and Epilepsy

    • Common Medical Conditions: Diabetes, Hypoglycaemia, and Hypothermia

    Day 3: Practical Skills and Scenario-Based Training

    • Practical Sessions on CPR and AED Use

    • Wound Dressing Techniques and Bandaging

    • Role-Playing Emergency Scenarios

    • Group Activities: Simulated First Aid Situations

    • Risk Assessment and First Aid Needs Analysis in the Workplace

    • Creating and Maintaining First Aid Kits

    • Reporting and Record Keeping: Legal Responsibilities

    • Review of Course Content and Key Takeaways

    • Assessment and Feedback Session

  • Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded your First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for 3 years
